A cricket club for anyone who wants to play cricket and enjoy the social aspects of the game
.

The Oslo Aliens have been playing cricket in Oslo, Norway for nine years. In that time since we were founded by Simon Herbert and Nigel Hornby we have grown to number over thirty playing members as well as many social and occasional members. We serve an important social function for both expats who are established cricketers (of whatever standard) and Norwegians who are curious about the game of cricket. Anybody is welcome to join us: social membership is free and will see you invited to our frequent and entertaining events. Many of our members are family people and we do our utmost to make sure that we cater to their needs as well.

The Oslo Aliens is a truly international team playing in the Oslo League. We have members from Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa and the West Indies. We try our best to strike a balance between social and cricketing excellence.

We are currently playing in the second of Oslo's four divisions.  In 2008 we missed out on promotion by a single point. In 2009 the club finished second in the league and earned promotion to the 1st division.

Games are played at one of four grounds in the Oslo area (two in Ekeberg, one in Stovner and one in Drammen) and training is held one evening per week, typically in Stovner. The season runs from late April to September and although we occasionally encounter a snow shower in May, this is unusual and we usually play in good conditions.

We want to select teams that enable to us to be competitive in league games, but also allow as many of our members to play during the course of the season. For this reason we also organise a number of intra-club and friendly games throughout the year.

Cricket in Norway has gone from strength to strength in recent years, and is now part of the Norwegian federation of sports. In the Oslo league alone, there are well over 30 teams. In 2006 Norway performed extremely well in European competition, winning the European 2nd division tournament.

Oslo Aliens Cricket Club welcomes anybody, of any age or ability who is interested in playing, or being associated with cricket in Norway.  Please contact us if you interested in joining our club.
